Mr. William Schoonover is a student of Soke Dennis Fitch, D.N. and has earned a rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt) in Shaolin Chuan Fa. Currently Mr. Schoonover heads the Shaolin Chuan Fa Martial Arts Association of Orange Park.  Mr. Schoonover has been involved with the Shaolin Chuan Fa Martial Arts Association (CFMA) for over 15 yrs which has given him a strong base of Kenpo and Tai Chi. Thanks to Mr. Robichaud (Southeast regional director of CFMA) Mr. Schoonover has also obtained a basis of Jiu Jitsu. However Mr. Schoonover’s martial arts training started many years earlier.  He was introduced to martial arts at the age of nine by his brother Joe (Who trained in Parker Kenpo in Hawaii) and had his first formal instruction in the art of Tae Kwon Do from Master Ahn in Ohio, but was never rank.  He was also tutored in the art of Tang Soo Do by Master Song.  In addition to the Korean arts, Mr. Schoonover has had numerous instructions in Aikido. Above all else William Schoonover was taught the art of boxing from his father Gene F. Schoonover.  Mr. Gene Schoonover was nicknamed the Cincinnati Kid by the Cincinnati Enquirer News Paper during the years that he boxed.Mr. Schoonover’s formal instruction, ranging from his father to Soke Fitch, was from instructors that were in the truest sense “traditionalists”.  He was taught the importance of: proper technique, training, integrity, and the value of life.  In return Mr. Schoonover expects no less from his students that his teachers expected from him.  Rank is earned in this style, not purchased!  Mr. Schoonover is also the “editor” and designer of Dragon Spirit Quarterly© which is the cyber newsletter of the Shaolin Chuan Fa Martial Arts Association (CFMA) and its affiliates.  Any school, student, or instructor that joins the CFMA has the quarterly Dragon Spirit as a tool at their disposal.
